Thursday 25th July- Saturday 3rd August 2013 64th Annual Open Art Exhibition
October 2012 : “Meet the Artist”
The Mannin Art Group are extending their annual MEET THE ARTIST event over two days this year : opening at 10.00am on Saturday 27th October through to 5pm – and on Sunday 28th October : 12.30pm to 5.00pm at St Paul’s Hall, Ramsey.
This year’s event will see artists demonstrating as well as displaying their works. There will be demonstrations with pastels; silk painting and watercolour.
This event is an opportunity to purchase art and craft direct from the artists. The chosen charity the Group has nominated to benefit for 2012 is the Macular Disease Society Isle of Man.
A stand this year has been set aside for the works the Mannin Art Group have inherited from the late Pat Kind’s estate. Pat’s unique free style watercolours of Manx tholtans and the countryside are much loved. Pat sadly had eyesight problems in later years and it was felt she would be happy to know her works would benefit the Macular Disease Society. Pat’s life revolved around painting with the Mannin Art Group, her love of wildlife and protecting the Manx countryside.
Admission to the event is free. Teas, Coffees and homemade cakes will be served in the lounge area of St Paul’s Hall.

Handing In Day: Wednesday 18th July 2012
Judging and Preview: Friday 20th July
Open to the public: Saturday 21st July until Collection Day: SUNDAY 29th July

Committee Update : August 2011
The Committee has to inform you that unfortunately Daphne MacOwan has felt it difficult to continue as Chairman, and has resigned from that post with immediate effect. The Committee wishes to thank her very much for her undoubted enthusiasm and for the commitment and generosity she has demonstrated for the Mannin Art Group for the 21/2 years she held this office.
As Vice Chairman, Mona Clague has stepped in to fill the role of Chairman until the appointment of a new Chairman at the AGM. This will be held on Monday16th April, 2012. Anyone who wishes to put their name forward, or to propose another member for taking up this post should send in their nominations to be received in writing by the Secretary, Jodie Buckley at least 3 weeks prior to the AGM, ie by week ending 23rd March 2012. The nominee must agree to being nominated, and should be seconded as well.
We will also be looking for a new Treasurer, as sadly, Delia Jackson has decided to step down as Treasurer, in order to pursue personal interests. Mona Clague will also oversee this job until the AGM, and nominations will be accepted for a new Treasurer. Please note that Frank Crompton has reluctantly resigned from the committee after his short spell of participation. Our sincere thanks to you both.
Nominations for new committee members will be warmly welcomed. We have approx 6-7 meetings per year, with the main focus of our energies being the summer exhibition, and it can be seen as an opportunity to have a say in how the Group is run. Please feel free to approach any of the committee in the coming months if you think you might like to join. We already have several willing helpers and they are to be warmly thanked for the hard work they put in, and we do understand that they may not wish to join the committee. Shadows for any of the posts will also help to maintain the smooth running of the Group, so we hope that you will feel encouraged to participate at some level.
Summer Exhibition Update : August 2011
The Summer Exhibition – On behalf of all the members and exhibitors, the committee wishes to express a very big thank you to Lindy Preston and Carol Williamson for taking on the organisation of this year’s summer exhibition and without having the big advantage of being ‘shadows’ in 2010. They did a splendid job, and raised the bar on the presentation of Preview Night and throughout the exhibition’s run. Daphne is also to be thanked for her heroic decision to change the screen and room layout – many favourable comments about traffic flow and better viewing were made.
The organizers and committee felt that the Exhibition ran well, with over a thousand visitors to view our artwork (198 exhibits) and forty artists selling one or more pieces. A total income was generated of £10,292 made up from 52 paintings sold (£7790); Handing In (£237); Raffle (£1268); and entry(£997)
At the time of ‘going to press’, the expenses have not been finalized. They will form part of the Treasurer’s Exhibition Report presented at the AGM.
